Our history - on the road since 1932
For the origins of Mutsters Logistics B.V., we go back to the year 1932 , when Frans Mutsters started his own transport company in Zundert.
Frans started his business with a second-hand box truck, after first working with horse and cart. He mainly transported fruits and vegetables from the region to the market in Antwerp.
When this started going well, he sold his first car and bought a tractor with trailer. Soon the range of cargo grew: in addition to fruit and vegetables, Frans also transported building materials and livestock - mainly from the Limburg region.
After the war, the company began to grow further. Four trucks were acquired (two new and two second-hand), which were mainly used to transport fruit within the Netherlands. In addition, it increasingly transported general cargo to and from Belgium.
In the 1960s, the company was run by Frans's sons: Janus and Nis. During this period, the focus was on transporting concrete parts within the Netherlands and Belgium. The fleet grew in the 1970s to 25 tractor units.
Investments were made in various types of trucks and trailers, transporting building materials, concrete, aluminium and flooring - both within the Netherlands and to Belgium and France.
In 1975, the company made a major turnaround: the introduction of sea container transport. It started with 20ft containers for which special chassis were purchased. Later, 40ft containers followed, and old covered trailers were converted into container chassis.
In the 1980s, demand for container transport continued to grow. Thanks to a hoist, containers could be changed chassis efficiently. During this period, the brothers decided to split the company and go their separate ways.
In 1984 Mutsters switched almost entirely to container transport. The fleet was expanded with new trucks and trailers to increase capacity.
From its strategic location between Rotterdam and Antwerp customer base grew. In 1992 a used container lift truck was acquired to allow containers to be placed directly from the trailer onto the ground - a flexible solution for customers.
At 1995 This was followed by a larger forklift in company colours, with which containers up to 35 tonnes could be moved.
Due to increasing demand, several new trailers were invested in during these years, including combinations that allow 2x20ft containers could be loaded at the dock at the same time.
At the turn of the century, the fleet grew to 50 trucks and 80 trailers.
At 2001 followed the purchase of 10 multi-purpose chassis to transport 20ft, 30ft, 40ft, 45ft and 2x20ft containers.
At 2005 A new Kalmar container forklift was acquired, which enables containers up to 40 tonnes in all sizes could be moved. This machine is still in use today.
The economic crisis in 2009 brought challenges. The fleet was reduced to 40 tractor units. A loyal customer base helped maintain this level.
At 2019 another sliding tarpaulin trailer was purchased, with which Mutsters also became active in general cargo transport again.
Today, besides sea containers, we also transport refrigerated and sliding tarpaulin trailers in the Benelux, Germany and France.
With almost a century of experience, we continue to innovate, invest and build lasting relationships with our customers.
